The 1922 Colt Automatic Target Pistol, commonly known by collectors as the Pre-Woodsman, represents the earliest evolution of one of John Moses Browning\'s most influential rimfire handgun designs. Built with Colt\'s renowned machining standards, this pistol features a slender 6.625-inch pencil barrel, streamlined grip frame, and classic blued finish that exemplify the craftsmanship of the early twentieth century. Engineered specifically around standard-velocity .22 LR ammunition, the frame and operating system were designed to provide reliable function while preserving the longevity of the firearm\'s finely fitted components.

Designed for target shooting and recreational use, the Pre-Woodsman combines Browning\'s exceptional ergonomics with a smooth single-action operating system that remains highly regarded by collectors and shooters alike. Its balanced handling, crisp sight picture, and refined construction helped establish the foundation for the Woodsman series that followed. Today, the Pre-Woodsman stands as both a historically important collectible and an elegant example of early American firearms design. Get this and more for sale from Wild Zebra, the best gun store!
